In plain words

Clouds are born from the sun's own light -- and then, they spread across the sky and hide the very sun that made them. The ego works exactly the same way: it rises out of the Self, and then it spreads out and covers over the Self's own reality on its own.

Close to the Sanskrit

Just as the row of clouds, generated by the sun's own light, expands after concealing the sun itself, in the same way the ego-sense, arisen from the Self, expands after concealing the very reality of the Self.
