In plain words

When your conviction rests entirely on the authority of the scriptures, steady devotion to your own rightful duty naturally follows -- and through that alone, the mind becomes pure. Once the intellect is pure, direct knowledge of the Supreme Self follows -- and through that knowledge alone, samsara is torn out, root and all.

Close to the Sanskrit

For one whose conviction rests solely on the authority of scripture, steadfastness in one's own duty follows; by that alone comes this person's purification of mind. For one of purified intellect, knowledge of the Supreme Self follows; by that alone comes the destruction of samsara together with its root.
