। ॥ १५८ ॥

In plain words

The body, with its hands and feet and all the rest, cannot be the Self -- because life goes on even when a limb is missing, and the underlying power behind each faculty is never actually destroyed just because the body loses a part. What is governed can never be the one who governs it.

Close to the Sanskrit

The body possessing hands, feet, and so on, is not the Self, because one lives even when maimed, and because the respective power of each organ is not destroyed even then. That which is regulated is not the regulator.
