In plain words

When you wake up, the whole dream disappears down to its very roots. It's the same here: even something beginningless doesn't have to be permanent — just look at 'prior non-existence,' which has no beginning either, yet plainly comes to an end.

Close to the Sanskrit

Upon awakening, everything vanishes root and all, like a dream. Even though beginningless, this is not eternal — clearly, like prior non-existence (prāgabhāva).
