This false link is undone only by true knowledge — nothing else will do it. And true knowledge, as the scriptures teach, is the direct realization that Brahman and the Self are one and the same.

The removal of that [false connection] would come about through right knowledge, not otherwise. The knowledge of the oneness of Brahman and the Self is [what] right knowledge [is], according to the Śruti.
