In plain words

Whatever error imagines onto something, look closely and it turns out to be nothing but that something, never truly separate from it. The moment the error clears, whatever you thought you saw shows itself as always having been the real thing underneath — the way a rope, once seen clearly, was never a snake at all. The universe is exactly like that: it was always, only, the Self.

Close to the Sanskrit

Whatever is imagined through error upon a substratum is, on discrimination, that substratum alone, never different from it. When error is destroyed, the reality of the snake seen in error is the rope; likewise, the universe is the Self’s own nature.
