In plain words
The body still walks and speaks, but to the great soul it is no more than watching his own shadow fall on the ground — kept moving only by momentum already set loose, nothing more. He has already let it go, the way you would leave a corpse far behind you. He never picks it up again.
Close to the Sanskrit
The body — seen the way a man's shadow is seen, continuing merely as appearance through the experience of [residual] karmic fruit, cast off from afar like a corpse — this the great soul never joins to himself again.
