Even in deep sleep, where everything is veiled as if by darkness, and at night when no sun shines, there is that by which darkness and what appears within it are known: this reveals Cit, Awareness. And because one’s love for oneself never departs—and unfailing love rests only in happiness—the Self is also Ānanda, dear child.
