Paragraph 14

Paragraph 14

In plain words

Give no room at all for any thought other than the thought of the Self to rise, and stay devoted to abiding as the Self: that is giving yourself to the Lord. However much of a burden you lay on the Lord, He carries all of it. Since one supreme power of the Lord is carrying on everything that happens, why not yield to it? Why keep thinking all the time, "I must do it this way, I must do it that way"? We know that the train carries every load. Once we are on board, why not put our own small bundle into it too and sit at ease? Why carry it on our head and suffer?

Word for word

To remain devoted to abiding in the Self, without giving even the slightest room for any thought other than the thought of the Self to arise, is giving oneself to the Lord. However much burden one places on the Lord, He bears all of it. Since a single supreme power of the Lord is carrying on all affairs, why, instead of submitting to it ourselves, do we keep thinking all the time, "it must be done this way, it must be done that way"? Though we know that the train carries all loads, why should we who travel on it, instead of putting our small bundle into it as well and being at ease, suffer by carrying it on our own head?
