In plain words

Not only can the expanse of Your works not be known, but even the greatness of Your knowledge, whose nature is lordship: so he says: I bow to Him, to gain whose abode even Brahmā and the rest run higher and higher by the stairway of works. To gain that ‘abode’ of His, that is, that unthinkable state, even Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Rudra and the rest, ‘by the stairway of works’, that is, by series of practices, of this meditation and that, ‘run higher and higher’, that is, with ever greater effort, longing for ever greater excellence, and find no rest at all. For in the state of the Supreme Lord, common to all, there is no joining with higher and lower; so how could it be reached by those who long for ever higher excellence? So the greatness of the knowledge of the Great Lord too is beyond measure.
