In plain words
Reflecting on it in another form, he says: Having set on stage the drama of the three worlds, which holds within its womb the many true seeds it has sent forth, who other than You, O Hara, is the poet able to bring it to its close? O Hara, that is, intent on withdrawing the universe: the three worlds, in the form of being, non-being and what is beyond being, ‘having set on stage’, that is, having begun, like a drama, that is, like a poem to be enacted, because of their joining with its various elements, speech, limbs, costume, the sāttvika states and the rest, what other ‘poet’, that is, Prajāpati, than You is ‘able’ ‘to bring it to its close’, that is, to still it? None at all: that is the meaning. What kind of drama? One in whose ‘womb’, that is, within, the ‘many’ ‘seeds’, māyā, prakṛti and the rest, of the ‘true’, that is, of the things displayed as existing, have been ‘sent forth’, that is, produced. And for the particular kind of poem called a drama, too, to set it on stage, that is, to introduce it in brief in the prologue, through the opening juncture, and to bring it to its close, that is, to carry it through by the concluding juncture, only some poet who has mounted to the summit is able, not everyone. As they have said: “A drama should have a well-known story …” So it is said. What kind of drama? ‘Sent forth’ … connection, seed and the rest … in which juncture, of which … womb, pause and conclusion … of the gaining of a kingdom and the rest, the purposes and the rest are placed in the juncture of the womb. As the sage Bharata said: “The seed, the drop, the banner, the episode and the goal: these five elements of the plot are set in the juncture of the womb.” So it is said. To show what each of these is would bring on a lengthening of the book of no use to the matter in hand, and so it has not been told.
