In plain words

Even so, longing that at times of emergence the Supreme Lord should always make my thoughts strive for samāveśa alone, he says: I hope that the Lord whose radiance, impelling minds, is sung by the Gāyatrī will impel our minds too onto the true path. ‘I hope’, kaccit, is used in a question about something wished. The ‘radiance’, that is, the choicest light, belonging to ‘whom’, the Great Lord, the sun of awareness, ‘is sung’, that is, praised, by ‘the Gāyatrī’, the mother of the Vedas, whose form is the power of speech, as ‘impelling’ ‘minds’, that is, the understandings of all knowers, that is, making them take up the resolve of what each is to do: may that ‘Lord’, that is, whose nature is to have power everywhere, ‘impel’ ‘our minds’, that is, all the movements of our understanding, risen up at times of emergence, ‘onto the true path’, which is samāveśa, the means of attaining the Supreme Lord, that is, make them take up striving, with all other activity set aside. And the intent of ‘onto the true path’ is this: the Lord's impelling of the minds of the universe, though set forth in this way by the Gāyatrī itself, is not understood by the foolish Vedic scholars, though they recite it day after day and even understand it; so this impelling of them onto a false path is done by Him alone.
