In plain words

"Let me hear what anyone has told thee." "Vidagdha Śākalya told me, 'The heart indeed is Brahman.'" "As one who had a mother, a father and a teacher might say, so did Śākalya say that the heart indeed is Brahman; for what would one have who had no heart? But did he tell thee its dwelling and its support?" "He did not tell me." "Then this is a thing of one foot only, your majesty." "Then do thou tell us, Yājñavalkya." "The heart is its dwelling and space its support. Let a man worship it as steadfastness." "What is steadfastness, Yājñavalkya?" "The heart itself, your majesty," he said. "For the heart, your majesty, is the dwelling of all beings; the heart, your majesty, is the support of all beings; in the heart alone, your majesty, are all beings founded. The heart, your majesty, is the highest Brahman. The heart does not leave him, all beings flow toward him, and becoming a god he goes to the gods, who worships it thus knowing." "I give thee a thousand cows with a bull like an elephant," said Janaka of Videha. Yājñavalkya said, "My father held that one should not take a gift without having taught."

In plain words

Vidagdha Śākalya once said it plainly: "The heart -- that is Brahman." And it is true, your majesty: the heart is where every being comes home to rest. Every creature is nothing but name, form, and action woven together, and all of that leans on the heart -- we said as much earlier, in the Śākalya section: beings depend on the heart, beings are grounded in the heart. That is why, your majesty, every single being finally stands on the heart and nowhere else. So meditate on the heart as your foundation. And know this too: in the heart, the presiding power is Prajāpati himself.

Close to the Sanskrit

Vidagdha Śākalya [said]: "The heart indeed is Brahman." The heart indeed, O emperor, is the abode of all beings. For beings, consisting of name, form, and action, depend on the heart -- we have said, in the Śākalya-brāhmaṇa, that they "depend on the heart" and are "grounded in the heart." Therefore, in the heart alone, O emperor, all beings become established. Therefore let one meditate on the heart as "foundation"; and in the heart, Prajāpati is the deity.
