Verse 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

There is nothing whatsoever higher than Me, Dhananjaya. All this is strung on Me like clusters of jewels on a thread.

Word for word

Than Me there is not anything other higher, O Dhanañjaya; on Me all this is strung, like clusters of gems on a thread.

Bhagavadgītābhāṣyam

In plain words

Because that is how things stand, therefore —

There is nothing higher than me, the Supreme Lord. No other cause, no second origin, nothing of the kind at all — look for it and it is not there. I alone am the cause of the world: that is what the verse is saying, Dhanañjaya. And because that is how it stands, all beings, this whole world, are woven into me, the Supreme Lord — stitched along me, running through me, pierced through and strung on me. Cloth on its long threads. Gems on a single string.

Close to the Sanskrit

Since [it is so], therefore —

Than me, the Supreme Lord, there is nothing higher whatever, no other cause — it is not, it is not found. The meaning is: I alone am the cause of the world, O Dhanañjaya. Because it is so, therefore in me, the Supreme Lord, all beings — this whole world — are woven: stitched along, run through, pierced through, strung together; that is the meaning — as cloth is on its long threads, and as clusters of gems are on a string.
