In plain words

“The first, the ‘ārta bhakta’, worships Me and remembers Me only when sorrow, unrest, trouble, pains and hardships come upon him in worldly matters. Hearing his remembrance, I satisfy him in that matter alone. I remove those pains. Likewise the second, the ‘arthārtha bhakta’: I bestow the possessions and vehicles, positions and status, fame and honour, sons and grandsons that he hoped for, and make him happy with just that much. Then the third, the ‘jijñāsu’: I have him do niṣkāma karmas, grant him the right guru, bestow the keenness of intellect fit for the Ātma inquiry he makes, and grant him the strength and capacity fit for his sādhanas, and so bring about his attainment of the Ātma; and, not letting other desires gather in him, I graciously see to it that a constant longing for Mokṣa alone remains his vow. Brother-in-law! I am like the kalpa vṛkṣa! Whatever anyone asks for, to give it is My duty. Following what accords with each person's feeling, I keep bestowing the fruit that fits it. Hatred, distinction, partiality: I have none, at any time, nor will I ever. Pitilessness has not touched even My shadow; there is no room to attribute any unevenness to Me. The rays of the shining sun spread over everything that faces it. How could it reach what is hidden from it? In the same way I too fulfil whatever kind of wishes people ask for. So if one has grown noble feelings, I give the highest place; if one has grown petty feelings, the lowest place. In this there are only the faults in the devotees' own feelings; there is never any lack of grace on God's part.”
