Passage 14

On the Gītā: 4.13

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

“This varṇa system is most essential for the running of creation. People cannot grasp its inner meaning so easily. The ajñānis think that these varṇas somehow torment men in many ways and create distinctions. If one investigates by inquiring into the matter, the reality of the thing comes to light. But if, without any investigation, one argues that varṇa distinction is not right, it turns into an argument that does not know the matter, a wailing without Viveka, an anguish without faith. I created these varṇas for the welfare of the world, not for its famine. Through this varṇa system man performs the karmas that suit his own inclination, and attains fullness. Without the rules of varṇa, man would not be happy for a single minute. For man's karmas, the varṇas are like the very life-breath.”
