In plain words
For one who goes about without morality and discipline, were he the Creator himself, Ajñāna does not cease; where there is no light, darkness never leaves the face of the earth.
Students, embodiments of the sacred Ātma!
On the stage of the world-drama there is no game the jīva has not played, no song it has not sung, no guise it has not worn. Though it has worn eighty-four lakh guises through endless time, we strive, by way of our own guise, either to become worthy of God's grace or to gladden God's heart and so win a word of His approval. If, after all this time, we are still in a state where we have not won such approval or that sacred grace, its inner meaning is that the way we play, sing and speak is not right. In the world, when a man carries a load on his head, he will make for his home at great speed, wanting to set that load down as quickly as he can. And not only that: the officer who went to his office at nine in the morning, with the thought, ‘When, oh when will it be five o'clock? When shall I reach my own home?’, that officer too strives to reach his own place. And not only that. Whatever journey we make, when we travel by bus or train or the like, we too go on journeying set on reaching the destination alone: ‘How much more time has gone by? When will we reach the station?’
