In plain words

So our people must strive to develop education, medical care and transport for these six thousand villages. There are villages suffering with no water to drink. The government alone cannot do all of this. Without the people's cooperation, even the government can do nothing. The government is something that depends on the people; it is not independent. Only when the people cooperate does the government, too, lend some cooperation. To develop this society by your own strength, without depending on the government, is the true sādhana and the true service. Becoming embodiments of Prema, you must offer every limb of yours to the Lord of all, to win the grace of His Prema. All the fruit that comes from japa, tapas, yajña, yāga and the rest is gained through God's Prema alone. What more is there for you to achieve than to become worthy of God's Prema!

All Swami's resolves are for the welfare of the world alone!

But you must understand this principle of Prema. At your own level, as you experience Prema and follow it, you are giving room to certain kinds of wrong paths. This is a mistake. The principle of Prema is free of ego, pure and selfless. Whatever Sai does, whatever He thinks, whatever He says, is for your sake alone, not for His own. Your Ānanda is My Ānanda; I have no Ānanda of My own apart from it. I have no wishes at all. You may think, ‘Swami is doing this, He is doing that.’ Nothing is for Me; it is all for you! On the last birthday too, I told you this very thing. Whether you believe it or not, for My own sake I am not spending even a single naya paisa. Whatever I do is for society alone. Fifty-six years have gone by till now, yet I have not spent a single paisa to have even one shirt stitched for Myself. I wear only what devotees give. Today I put on this robe, given Me by Radhakrishna, a student of the Kingdom of Sathya Sai. To this day the resolve ‘I want this’ has never arisen in Me, not only today but on any day. Whatever resolve arises is for the welfare of the world: to raise up the young and shape young women and young men who will show others the way. This is My chief aim. Recognising the Sai principle well, and seeing that Sai has no self-interest, you must raise your enthusiasm for your programmes in the days ahead and bind yourselves by a vow to the service of the world.

To restore the ancient culture and traditions of Bhārata: that is My aim

From next month I hope also to tour the whole of Bhārata, and so to give a chance to those who cannot come here, and to those who otherwise lack the strength and the means, and make them happy. Above all, hold Swami's programmes not in the towns but in the villages. Cut down the money spent on your programmes and spend it on providing facilities for the village people. I hope to go round every single village. But you must make the arrangements it needs. I will come even on foot. But the people who gather will be in lakhs, so you must provide the facilities they need. When you provide such facilities for every village too, there will be a chance to give everyone the philosophy and culture of Bhārata. I have resolved, very soon, to make the ancient culture and traditions rise again in our land of Bhārata, and to make the people of Bhārata glad. This will surely happen. Our ancient tradition will stand. The chance will come to carry our Dharma to many lands.
