In plain words

That itself is good fortune. All our good and bad fortune depends on saṅkalpas. As the saṅkalpa, so the fruit. So we must follow our karmas without fail. But if, even while following them, we keep worshipping God with joy, there is no gain greater than this. If we keep bad feelings, bad qualities and bad thoughts within us and act out good feelings, this amounts to deceiving God. Here there is no room at all for playing hide-and-seek with money. We must increase the wealth of good qualities. We must increase the strength of faith. In the principle called Śaraṇāgati we must win our life.

Many people keep saying: "Why are You hurting me so much? Why are You putting me through such hardships?" so they feel. One who has truly surrendered gives no room at all to these questions. When there is this "I have surrendered, yet He is hurting me, me!", where does Śaraṇāgati come in any more? Only one who has not surrendered falls prey to such feelings. For one who has surrendered, everything is God's prasāda. So we must develop this karma-kāṇḍa, make it sacred, and, in order to make it fruitful, make our heart broad.

Can karma be crossed? O man, can karma be crossed? Dip it in a small pond, dip it in many seas: as big as the pot, so much the water; want it as you may, no more will come. (Can karma be crossed …) Though you read the weighty lessons, though you worship the family gods, though you go into the dense forests, though you do the hardest tapas, (Can karma be crossed …)

Yet crossing this karma is possible. How? If you win God's grace, whole mountains turn into flour. Such grace is held in divinity alone. Fire the size of an atom burns even a mountain of cotton in a single moment. But in what way does this fire come to us? It comes through Prema alone. We must increase that Prema. We must do service with Prema alone. Whatever service you are doing, you must do it with the remembrance of the Name. Without the Name, this mind runs off who knows where. It is the birthplace of fickleness. What is given is a name. So, giving no room to other thoughts, we must enter into karmas while uttering the Name of God.
