Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

We must never speak to a patient like this. We must teach him courage. That too is a kind of medicine. In that way we must try as hard as we can to make the patient well.

Spirituality alone is the right way to develop sacred feelings and conduct

Today many diseases come to man psychologically. Of the diseases that come to man, most come from the lack of rest for the mind! In 90% the mind has no rest. This is not something that comes from reading books on meditation. Nor does it come from a guru's teaching. Meditation is not something stuffed in from outside. It is what is within. Only when one has a kind of confidence in oneself does meditation come easily to us. So we must make our faith grow. In that faith we must take care that we hurt no one. We must teach the means of curing the suffering that has come. Many doctors too have gathered here. So we must teach in such a way that they too understand. Doctors above all must speak to their patients with a smiling face. Speaking with a smile, they must give them courage. Tell the sick: Don't worry. What is the shape of worry! It is a mentally created fear. Give the sick courage, encouragement, saying: Don't worry. Suppose a patient has come to the doctor in great distress. The doctor takes his pulse. Usually, as the doctor takes the pulse, smiling, the man looks at the doctor's face. If, while the sick man watches your face, your face is such as to frighten him, he collapses on the spot. Even one who was healthy before may fall ill because of the doctor's behaviour. That is why spirituality alone is the right way to develop sacred feelings, sacred conduct, sacred ways of living, sacred thoughts.

Spirituality is not a religion apart; it is the divine power that is in all

Spirituality is not a religion; spirituality is the divine power that is in all equally.
