Passage 12

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

So it is this sevā that is foremost for you. Whether you are in this Organisation or not, wherever you are, you must feel that there is a close tie and kinship between it and you. It is your birthright. So you must enter it with the feeling, ‘This Organisation is mine.’ As much pain as you feel if you suffer some loss, so much pain must you feel too if anything in this Organisation strays a little from the path. Many do not feel that way. At least from now on, you must develop this śraddhā and Bhakti, enter into it, and prove it an ideal for the whole world. However sincerely you work, so much will the fruit come to you.

Where there is Prema there is no feeling of two

Once Tulasīdās said, ‘Son! Kām karne se mevā miltā hai!’ ‘Mevā’ is the name of a sweet. What sweet comes from doing sevā to God? We get the sweet called the Prema of God. So he said, ‘I am doing sevā for that sweet called Prema.’ So everyone must be ready to receive that sweet called Prema. For the sake of such Prema we must love the Paramātma. Not for things: it is the Paramātma that must be loved. We must love for the sake of Prema. Prema has three kinds of fruit. Prema has no fear. Prema is only for giving, not ready to take. Prema's fruit is Prema alone; there is no other fruit. So selfless is Prema. Where there is Prema there is no hatred. Where there is Prema there is no difference. There is no feeling of two at all. Where there is the feeling of two, where the feeling of difference comes, ‘This is mine, this is the Sai Organisation's’, it means there is no Prema there. Only where there is Prema do we find Śānti. Here, between Śānti and you, desire stands in the way. Until desire goes, Śānti will not be found. Look: people say, I want peace. In this sentence, peace is here. I is here. In between, the desire called want has come and settled. So if you are to reach peace, desire stands in the way in between. If you take away this desire, you and peace become one.
