Passage 9

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

“Even heaven does not equal, for Me, My mother and My motherland. Greater than heaven is My mother,” He said. That is why:

This is my motherland; this is my beloved mother tongue; this is my faith: who never learnt to proclaim it boldly, is there on earth such a walking corpse who lives on?

Love of one's country is essential for students. In the name of love of country we must not hate another country. Trust your country. Protect your country, look after your country. Never think of harming your country. Remove the delusion of caste. Remove the impurity in religion. Fill yourself with the wisdom that all are one. Believe in the oneness of all religions: that they are one. Believe that all the worlds are like one home. In just this way we must develop the equal-mindedness within the student. We must not hate anyone; we must not harm anyone. Whatever we do in our life: Reaction, Resound, Reflection. There is no escaping them.

Share the principle of Prema

Boys! Girls! I hope that you who have joined the Sathya Sai Institute will experience and practise an exemplary life, the principle of Prema and the divine principle of the Ātma, share them with others and be happy. Health is essential for happiness. And games are the main thing for health. We must follow the right path in these games and protect the good name of the games too. Time must not be wasted. For through our actions we must experience God, whose very form is Time, as Ānanda.

Students! Many of you may have read the Bhāgavatam. There is a story in it of one called Dundubhi. A student must rise between four and five o'clock, finish his morning duties, finish his bath, and immerse himself in his studies.
