In plain words
dishonour. So, since I was born in that dynasty, I must guard this," He said.
If in a line there is one man of virtue, the line shines forth, his virtue shines forth, as the sandalwood in a forest shines forth.
If there is a good jasmine tree in a great forest, it gives a sweet fragrance to the whole forest. In the same way, if one person in a line is truly virtuous, a good, good name comes to the whole line. If there is one bad man in that line, a bad name comes to the whole line. Prahlāda was born in the line of the rākṣasas. But he lived like a jasmine creeper in a forest. That is why Prahlāda's grandson became worthy of the Lord's Grace. He was Bali Cakravarti. To Bali Cakravarti the Lord Himself came and granted Mokṣa. So one man of virtue in a line is enough; his whole line gets a good name. You must not earn a bad name. Whether it is three months or three years, you must earn a good name in the college. Everyone must have a kind of feeling: "Such a boy has left this college." Without that, the feeling "When will this fellow leave the college?" must never arise.
In the same way, if we are a manager, the workers must not all feel, "When will this fellow go?" When we use the right standards with the workers, the workers will all plead that this manager must not go and keep him right there. Do not set your thoughts in any way on money, on salaries, on increments or on income. Work, work. By the work a certain feeling arises in the employer himself. Today in Bhārata-deśa this weakness has grown. The work done is little. The pay asked for is much. However much is given, every year there is a strike to give still more. As pay rises, the prices of goods go up. Then how will prices come down? They cannot. Prices will not come down unless salaries come down. This is a very important point in business. Things must come into balance, in the right state. We must see to the harmony of the two, profit and loss. If a big profit has come, we must inquire whether some betrayal has taken place in our concern. But today no one thinks that way. If a big profit has come, it is "Aha!", and he gives you an increment. They are spurring on the bad; they are not spurring on the good. Today the bad is a great attraction. Satya and goodness are nowhere to be seen, however much you search. If someone wastes time with some silly, silly talk, "Aha!
