Passage 8

In plain words

Who is this good son? Good son is God son. A world of mithyā: the whole world is mithyā. Brahman is Satya. That mithyā is a zero. Take one O out of Good, and it becomes God. So God son is good son. That is, the one who unceasingly has godly feelings, godly thoughts and godly deeds is a good son. Su means good. Bowing to the command of his mother and father, receiving his parents' Prema, delighting his parents, he must offer them gratitude for raising him and bringing him up all this time. The one who satisfies them is a good son. Not only that. The one who earns a good name in society is a good son. When does he become great?

If in a family there is one man of virtue, the family shines, his virtue shines, as sandalwood shines in the forest.

If there is a jasmine creeper in a great dense forest, the fragrance of the jasmine flower spreads through the whole forest. In the same way, if there is a good son, he brings great fame to that whole community. Today, the moment a son is born, we hand out sugar or sweets. If you ask, ‘Why are you handing out sugar, sir?’ he says, ‘A son is born to me.’ Look ahead to see what kind of son he is. Just because a son is born, you must not go about saying a son is born. The day that son of yours brings a good name in society, then you must celebrate your son. Joy in a son is not born in the father the moment the son is born; the father gains joy in his son on the day many people discover that son and praise him. Ten people: ‘Ah! This boy is very good, very good!’ When they say so, that itself is of great worth to the father. That itself is a great joy to God. You must be called good by everyone. Such a good son lights up his family itself.

The things that give light are of three kinds. The bulb burning in a house gives light to that room alone. The moon shining at night gives light everywhere, but it is dim. But the sun shining by day gives light everywhere. The light burning in a house is selfish. The light that comes everywhere from the moon is for others. The light of the sun is yadārtha.
