Passage 7

In plain words

"Half a share is Yours, half a share is mine": that will not do. You must take the full share. That is Śaraṇāgati. Whatever you do, whatever you see, you must feel, "It is all an offering to You." Whatever karma you do, all karma is for the pleasure of God. What is in me is God Himself. It is He who is doing this work. You must live in that feeling. Whatever work you do, for whose satisfaction are you doing it? Not for the satisfaction of someone outside. You eat food. For whose satisfaction? For your own satisfaction. You sleep. For whose satisfaction? For your own satisfaction. You put on a shirt. For whose satisfaction? For your own satisfaction. The Self is in everyone. That is selflessness. But not in the way of the body. In the way of the Ātma. I am Ātma. You must hold the feeling, "I am Ātma."

So what is in everyone is I. I. That is what does not change. That is what they called Aham. Not "I am the body." I am not the body. Not "I am the jīva." Not "I am Brahmā." To say "I am Brahman" means there are two. I am with dual mind is half blind. Aham: I. In this kind of state, you and I are one. You and I are one. is wrong. You and I are we. we and we are one. There, we are two; here, we are two. Here I, there you: the two joined together is we. All are one: that is the feeling of the one Ātma. The One, the Controller, the inner Self of all beings. That which is, is one; the wise speak of it in many ways. Om, the single syllable, is Brahman. All is one. That one alone we must not let go. You put down so many and go on to lakhs and crores. All those lakhs and crores came from one. Here is one. Here is thousand. You think the thousand is great. But the one is great. 1+1+... becomes a thousand. Without the one, there is no thousand. I is hero world is zero. One is hero God. Hero is I. Without this one, however many zeros you put down, they are zeros. So keep God beside you and do as many tasks as you like. All of them become sacred. Keeping God far away, whatever tasks you do, you may win them all in the way of the world. But conscious, you will not be satisfied. Hero becomes zero if he forgets God. Whoever forgets God is zero. So keep God with you, and do as much as you like.

Consider the close bond of kinship that the Pāṇḍavas and the Kauravas had. In any hour of hardship whatever, the Pāṇḍavas: Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa. Their wife was put to shame. Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa; they were living on leaves and roots in the forest. Even then: Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa. When our people meet a little hardship: God has given me hardships; I do not want that Kṛṣṇa. If happiness comes, then they fill the whole house with photos. If sorrow comes, they take the photos down. This is mere weakness. This is not true Bhakti. In a time of hardship, in a time of loss, in a time of sorrow: faith is faith.
