In plain words
The mind that has no Prema is a land of ghosts; so it is fitting to say, truly, on this earth. The breath goes in and the breath goes out, the two go on: would one call that life in a blacksmith's bellows!
Embodiments of Prema!
The goal of Prema is sacrifice. Prema desires nothing. Prema reviles no one. Prema hurts no one. Prema is selfless and pure. Unable to recognise this principle of Prema, man yearns for Prema in many ways. We must believe that Prema means selflessness, a principle joined with sacrifice. In this vast world, in every kind of Prema, the Prema of mother and child, of wife and husband, of brothers or of friends, there is some selfishness and self-interest, more or less. Prema with no selfishness or self-interest of any kind is divine Prema. This Prema brings close even those who are very far away. It unites those who are parted. It transforms man, sunk in the ways of beasts, into Paśupati. Step by step it transforms worldly, physical and earthly Prema into divine Prema. Those who want to know this principle of Prema must give up selfishness and self-interest. So those who want to recognise the Prema of God must develop the divine principle. They must develop steadiness and purity. However many hardships block the way, whatever kinds of suffering we go through, we must take no account of them, keep only the Prema of God in view and try to live by it. Even universal brotherhood cannot be oneness. brother hood of man. In this too there is selfishness. In this too there is self-interest. So those who develop universal brotherhood must believe in the principle of the one Ātma. Among brothers many differences of opinion have grown, and sinking into many troubles and turmoils, they have been falling into many tangles. So this brotherhood cannot be true Prema.
The form of Prema is to attain the principle of the one Ātma, knowing that the Ātma in Me, in you, in those and in these is one.
