In plain words
They drive them off as if driving them off in a war. They say, "There is no time now, go." If they said get out, it would not matter. They say worse than that. Such people are not doctors at all. Such people are not persons at all. Such people are not devotees at all. If you are those who have truly come for Swami, from today you must grow Prema. With Swami, from foot to head, there is Prema alone. What I give is Prema. You are taking it, but you are not using it; no one at all answers calmly, with Prema.
Embodiments of Prema! Though you have no Prema, I say, "Embodiments of Prema." You need not grow anything. Grow Prema alone. If you grow that Prema, you become people who have won great power of tapas. What did Vaśiṣṭha say to Arundhatī? "Ah, the moon shines without any spots, like Viśvāmitra's power of tapas." Vaśiṣṭha praised Viśvāmitra though he was not before him. Merely by hearing that Prema, Viśvāmitra's heart melted. When any new devotees come, those who live in the ashram should welcome them with great courtesy, like an air hostess. When new boys come and join the Institute, we should welcome them like our brothers. They should make them forget the pain of having left their mothers and fathers. There are colleges outside. They start on the boys who have newly joined, calling it ragging, and take their lives. These are veritable demons. If they were their brothers, would they do that? Students who should take away the fear of the boys who have newly joined and give them courage and joy are making fear and anxiety grow in them. This is not vidyā. It is avidyā. It is not Viveka. It is aviveka. This is not the principle of compassion. It is cruelty. You must look with Prema on those who have newly come. In the same way, in the hostel, you must seat those who have newly joined beside you, with Prema. No, no. Reservations. A seat here. A seat there. They will not let them sit beside them. This is not good. You must live together, mixing with one another. That day you will have understood Swami's principle of Prema. Whatever word you speak, speak it with Prema. If you do not know, say, "I do not know, sir; please pardon me." Saying, "I don't know, go," they drive people off as one drives off animals.
