In plain words
Sing a song, Kṛṣṇa! so that honey flows from every word; speak to me, Mukunda, till my heart is full.... drawing out all the essence of the Vedas, turning it into the form of sound, pouring it back through the flute, turning it into the form of song. |Pāṭa|
‘The whole essence of the four Vedas, drawn out: that is the essence of the Upaniṣads. Those Upaniṣads are the cows, four of them. My body is Your flute. The flute that is my body has nine openings. Pour that essence of the Vedas back and forth through this flute, and play the song of the flute,’ she begged. Then Kṛṣṇa took up the flute for the last time and played. After that He gave up that flute for ever. From that day on He never touched that flute again. For the sake of Rādhā's Ānanda He offered up the flute that was dearest of all to Him.
All Kṛṣṇa's Līlās Take Away the Sorrows of Men!
Once Rukmiṇī sent for Rādhā to come to her house. Rādhā came. In those days milk, curds and butter were the only delicacies. There were no idlis, dosas, cakes or things like these. In her joy that Rādhā had come to the house, she took the milk boiling up on the fire, poured it into a vessel and handed it to Rādhā. Rādhā's nature was, before she ate anything, to offer that food to Kṛṣṇa, and only after that to eat it herself! ‘Kṛṣṇārpaṇaṃ!’ she said. She drank the milk, piping hot. With the heat in that milk, Kṛṣṇa's feet were burnt. In the evening Kṛṣṇa lay down. As Rukmiṇī was doing service at His feet, blisters were seen on them. ‘What is this, Lord! What is this strange sight? What has happened? Who has hurt You like this?’ When Rukmiṇī asked, He said, ‘This is your doing.’ To Rādhā, who came to see you, you handed the glass of milk without looking whether the milk was cool or not, whether it was fit to drink or not. That Rādhā offered it to Me. With that My feet were burnt,’ He said. Some people take all these to be stories. But these are not stories. They are divine līlās He showed in order to root out the sorrows of man!
