Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

There are many more works still to be done in the days ahead. These I will not speak of. From the nail of My toe to the hair of My head it is all help to others, all help! I long to do a great deal more. But I will not tell anyone; one must do it without telling. Our Karnataka Assembly Speaker said: in their region too the problem of drinking water is acute. We at least have some rivers; towards Kolar there is nothing. There too people suffer greatly for drinking water. Only when we solve the problems of society does our birth in society find its fulfilment. We must form committees among ourselves and, without pressure on the government or on the community, do our own work ourselves as far as we can. There are many young men who have no work, who eat, roam about and waste their time. Such people must enter into the works for the welfare of society and give their labour. The Chief Minister is giving his labour; in the same way every person must give his labour. If our village has no road, we must lay it for ourselves. We must not think that someone else will come and lay it. What dishonour is there in our laying a road for our own village? We must try to solve the problems of our village by ourselves. Where the cost of such an effort grows too great, someone else may take on the responsibility. I am ever ready, for the people of any village, any State, any district, no matter which! I have no differences of caste and creed, no differences of place at all.

To Me all are one

Whether you believe it or not, to Me all are one. The caste of humanity, the religion of Prema, the language of the heart: these alone exist! For any State, for any village, I am always ready to do it … from … it does not come, whatever may happen! Today all of you have gathered here: if there is any further big work to be done, if there are any who …, I will sell even Prasanthi Nilayam and do the works. For that too I am ready! What I want is only the welfare of the people, only the happiness of the people, only that the people become worthy of God's grace. For this alone I am toiling. No one recognises this truth. Even those who have been close to Me for many years do not recognise My truth. How could one come to recognise it? It is not possible. To know God's nature and His holiness is very difficult.

If all of you go on doing each the labour that falls to him, grow your faith in God and try to accomplish your works, everything will come about easily, with no hindrance at all. Our forefathers all followed this same path. In those days there were no party divisions like these, no hatreds, no problems of this kind at all. All lived with one mind.

Once born as a man, one must show forth an ideal; one must not turn even the good into bad because one does not like it. That is a great mistake.
