Passage 20

In plain words

I said that if you sent away Duryodhana alone, the rest would live happily. Did you listen? You did not. I always speak only Dharma. This whole kingdom was Pāṇḍu's. After he died, those children came to you. You took his kingdom into your hands and did not give those children even a village to live in." Vidura had said it that very day: "You are leaving the peacocks and the deer and rearing tigers and leopards. You are rearing wild beasts. You are not rearing such as Dharmaja, Arjuna, Bhīma, Nakula and Sahadeva. Disaster will surely come to you." He made much of his love for his sons. Love for one's sons may be there, but not the love of Dhṛtarāṣṭra for his sons. What did Dhṛtarāṣṭra's love for his sons do? It destroyed the very kingdom. He lost a hundred sons. So when good words are spoken, for the most part they are not welcome.

Good words, though spoken from the heart, you do not hear; bad words you take into your ears at once; being such, can you come to know Me? Whatever learning you have, what is its fruit?

When you do not listen to good words, what use is it, whatever you study? You must nourish good words in the right way.

Whether you know Swami or not, Swami has no desires of any kind. I do not ask anyone for anything. My hand is one that gives, not one that takes. For one thing only do I hold out my hand like this. Love. Love. Whose is that love? It is my property. Love is God. Live in love. God thoughts are very holy. Unable to recognise such thoughts, you go on comparing them with your own thoughts. Because of that, even my thoughts look bad to you. In me no bad is seen in any corner. God breath is our life breath. Only when you feel it this way can you gain well-being in every matter. However much you tell them, some children do not listen and go bad.
