In plain words
Today, wherever you look, love of God is nowhere to be seen. Contrary to it, love of sin and fear of God, these two, are growing. There is no fear of sin. No one steps forward towards merit.
Men want the fruit of merit, but they do not want to do merit; they do not want the fruit of sin, yet they commit sin with effort.
Man feels no eagerness to do meritorious deeds. But they hope for the fruit of merit. They do not hold back from sinful deeds. But they hope they will not get the fruit of sin. As the seeds we sow, just such is the plant. As the plant is, just such is the fruit we receive. So we must hold back from sinful deeds. Not to prevent sin, and to turn a blind eye to it, is sin too. We must step forward to meritorious deeds. When her sons were going to war, Kuntī Devī gave them a fine blessing. “My dears! You are going to war. You are going to win victory in the war. Victory will come. But I am telling you the pain in my heart; listen,” she said.
When he crushed the pride of the arms of the demon named Tāraka, Gaurī gave her son the protection of valour; when he went to end his mother's bondage, Vinatā gave her son a spotless protection; when he set out for the forest to keep his father's command, his mother gave Rāghava the protection of Dharma; such a mighty protection, a blessed protection, a protection for the body, among all protections the divine Śrī Rāma protection, may it be your companion and your shadow, and guard you.
