In plain words
All these only strengthen the disease further; they are not medicines that cure the disease.
Teaching the way to bring about peace in the world, putting an end to all narrow feelings, unity, living together and the like, and equality: is not this very teaching the gracious education?
Learning such an education, we must do good to the country. Many people say they are doing good to the country and rendering service, but, as slaves to the senses, they devote their lives to selfishness and self-interest alone. In man, from foot to head, selfishness is dancing its wild dance. Only he who has brought the senses under his control is a true master of learning. But today's student behaves just as his mind pleases. You must consider what qualities a student should have. “Good qualities, a good mind, devotion to truth, Bhakti, discipline and the keeping of duty: only what teaches these is education; the student must learn it.” The heart is very pure. Into such a heart you must not let in anything but compassion and Prema. But because compassion and Prema are absent from the heart of today's man, many negative feelings are entering it. That is why all one sees in the world is nothing but negative sights. The very feelings that fill your heart are reflected back to you outside.
Not book knowledge; the knowledge of experience comes first
Science and spirituality alike teach us, above all, the principle of the atom itself. What is the inner meaning in speaking of the atom? The food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the sound we hear, the walking we do: all of it is made of atoms. We must recognise the principle of the paramāṇu, subtler than the atom.
