In plain words
Students! You must go on always remembering the principle of the Ātma. Your parents talk to you of worldly matters. As for them, they do not know. Should not you, who have learnt, at least have the sense? Whatever they say, you must keep your aim on divinity alone. ‘Mother! Your wish is yours; my wish is mine. I am your son, you are my mother. That is true. But your thoughts are yours, and my thoughts are mine. I will serve you, I will show you my gratitude. I will give you joy. But I cannot leave the path of Satya”: so you must gently win your mother over.
Embodiments of Prema! Tonight another liṅga will emerge. (Showing the golden liṅga He had created a little earlier with a wave of His hand...) This one I created with my hand because he (the warden of the Brindavan hostel) asked for it, but another will come from within. This is the liṅga I created in answer to his prayer. Any number of liṅgas like this can be created. All of them are in this hand. All is one. You must make a fitting effort to recognise such oneness. Along with your studies, you must develop the feeling of the one Ātma. Then evil qualities such as hatred and envy will not come near you. However many sorrows come, you will not grieve, you will not be in the least unhappy. You will be able to experience Ānanda in the state of Advaita. So set your mind on God. Bow your head to God's command. Only then can you raise your life up.
