In plain words
Rid that love of attachment to the body. Only then will divinity become manifest to you. Through attachment to the body alone you give room to so many kinds of doubt and ruin your lives.
Even Vivekānanda at first did not fully believe in the divinity of Rāmakṛṣṇa Paramahaṃsa. Once he put four coins under the bedsheet Paramahaṃsa slept on, and waited to see how he would respond. After a while he came and lay down on the bed. But as if ants were stinging him all over his body, he got up at once. When he took off the bedsheet, the coins came into view beneath it. “Who put these here?” he asked. Vivekānanda, ashamed of what he had done, said, “I put them there myself, to test you.” Then Rāmakṛṣṇa Paramahaṃsa: “My dear son! There is no need for you to test me like this. I love everyone. You too, share your Prema with everyone. That is what I ask,” he said. Among the disciples of Jesus, one called Thomas kept doubting whether Jesus was God or not. In the same way, ‘doubting Thomases’ keep coming in the time of every Avatāra. Their karma is their own. As long as there are ‘doubts’, man cannot recognise the form of Satya. Today many are searching for God. But when will God be seen? Only when you develop Prema will He be seen. Without Prema, however much you search, asking where God is, where, He will not be seen. Above all, you must hold firmly to the faith that divinity is everywhere. If even the slightest doubt arises, divinity will not be visible to you.
Our eye, if you look at it, is not even an inch. But it sees the whole world; it sees even the stars in the endless sky. This is possible only because that divine power is in the eye. The eye itself is our śāstra. But when the film of a ‘cataract’ covers the eye, you see nothing; you cannot see even your wife and children right beside you. In just the same way, when the ‘cataract’ called doubt covers your mind's eye, you cannot see divinity. Only when you remove the ‘cataract’ will you attain the vision of God.
