Passage 3

In plain words

Our children do not get up at eight in the morning like the children outside. They get up the moment the cock crows ‘cock-a-doodle-doo’. In food and in recreation they keep to what is wholesome and to measure. Running races, badminton, tennis, ‘Vāli’ball (Sugrīva-ball!) and other such games they join in with zest, and they look after their health well.

Every one of the boys is fit and sturdy, not limp like someone who has fallen ill. Such children can not only sustain themselves but protect the country as well. Humility when they see elders... respect and courtesy when they see relatives... gentle, sweet speech... cultivating good conduct, they stand as models. It is no great thing for us to praise our own children, but when the educators and officials who come and go at our college see our children and speak of them in glowing terms, I feel great joy. When the President, the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers come, they speak of our children in the highest terms.

I have no illness at all, no disease whatever. Last year, one day, a boy was tying a festoon over the doorway.
