Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Dharma without Satya and Satya without Dharma cannot exist in the world. Satya and Dharma are the very life of the world. “With Satya, Dharma, Śānti and Prema carry on the journey of your daily life.” Only when Satya and Dharma stand will this world too stand. Whatever calamity befalls, you must not let go of Satya and Dharma in the least.

No faithful wife is Draupadī's equal

When you hold firmly to Satya and Dharma, God Himself comes before your eyes and keeps protecting you. History has many examples of this. Long ago Draupadī went on protecting the Pāṇḍavas by her own Satya and Dharma. So, asked who was great among faithful wives, people said Draupadī herself was the great one.

To her husbands' many words she never answers back; she never says she has no time to serve them; she stays content with what she has; no faithful wife is Draupadī's equal.

She never says, ‘This task is beyond me.’ At all times she touches no other work but the service of her husbands. How many today follow the ideal of such a Draupadī! She kept her sorrow down within herself. She went on praying not only for her husbands' welfare but for the welfare of all. That is why she could forgive even Aśvatthāmā, who had killed her sons. She stood as a symbol of Satya and Dharma. Satya and Dharma themselves went on protecting the Pāṇḍavas. Wherever you go, Satya and Dharma themselves stand visibly beside you and protect you! “Whom are Satya and Dharma protecting today?” you may argue. A great mistake. Children! Satya and Dharma themselves are God in visible form. If you protect Satya and Dharma, they in turn go on protecting you. That is why they said, ‘Satyaṃ vada, dharmaṃ cara.’ But today people are slaying Satya (satyaṃ vadha); they are putting Dharma in prison (dharmaṃ cera). This is a great sin.
