Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

But the moment you get up from here, you think, ‘Whatever all this is, it cannot be believed.’ This is not a quality man should have. You must believe spiritual discourses wholeheartedly. Put what you have believed into practice, and experience Ānanda. What is really born first of all in man is faith itself! Man trusts his mother deeply. However much his mother scolds him or beats him, he trusts her completely. So secure is a mother's love. Just as we have faith in a mother's love, we must have the same faith in God too. But now, wherever you look, faith is nowhere to be seen.

Trust yourselves

Man today hopes to see God before his very eyes. Who is the God before our eyes? The God before our eyes is the sun itself, which from daybreak onwards gives its light, nourishes living beings and protects the world. As the Gāyatrī mantra says, our ancient ṛṣis described the sun as the God before our eyes. The light called Prema comes from the sun alone. Without Prema our whole life is nothing but darkness! ‘The one sun appears to all the worlds as one for each.’ When the sun rises in America, it sets here. When the Americans say the sun is rising, at that very moment the people of Bhārata say the sun is setting. There is no room for argument here; both are true!

A disciple went to his guru and asked, ‘Gurujī! Where is the one called God?’ ‘God is everywhere. He is in all living beings,’ the guru replied. When he asked, ‘How is He there?’, the guru had some vessels brought. He filled them with water. The sun moving in the sky appeared in all those vessels. In the same way, the guru taught, God is in all living beings.
