In plain words
He thinks it is the power of his own intelligence. There is no power of his in it at all. Losing faith in oneness is itself the root cause of his sufferings. Forms may differ, and practices may differ. But man is one! God is one! The Navarātri comes to show man the nine kinds of power. What we must learn in the Navarātri is the feeling of the one Ātma. Hidden within the nine kinds of power is one single feeling, one single Satya. That is none other than the principle of the Ātma. It is not in man alone; it is present wherever you look.
When the sun rises in the east, if you walk towards the west, your shadow lies across your way. It looks much bigger than you. As the sun climbs higher, its size keeps shrinking. At high noon, when the sun comes right above your head, your shadow falls beneath your feet. In the same way, when you conduct yourselves against the principle of the Ātma, Ahaṅkāra grows in you. When you turn your sight towards the principle of the Ātma and develop equanimity, Ahaṅkāra sinks down like the shadow fallen beneath your feet. You must give up Ahaṅkāra, and see the oneness that is the principle of the Ātma. ‘Ekaṃ sat viprāḥ bahudhā vadanti’, ‘Ekamevādvitīyaṃ Brahma’. God is one! What is everywhere is oneness itself! But if difference appears to your sight, that is a mistake in your own feeling, not a mistake in creation. In every matter you must try to take hold of oneness. First of all, trust yourself. See only the good in the person before you. You must develop these three: self-control, self-respect and the strength of the self. Man today is left without Self-satisfaction precisely because he has no Self-control.
What is everywhere is oneness itself
Embodiments of Prema! You are embodiments of the one Ātma. First of all you must develop the feeling of the one Ātma.
