Passage 10

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Sweeter than sugar, more delicious than the cream of curds, than rich and swelling honey more delicious still, as the mouth says it over and over it seems the most delightful nectar itself; so every day remember well, with all your mind, the name of Rāma!

Till now many Avatāras have come. But has any Avatāra's name endured as lastingly as this? No. From time without beginning to this day, Rāma's name has shone for all as the tāraka mantra. Today everyone from children to the old keeps remembering Rāma's name. Age does not matter for tasting the sweetness of Rāma's name. Great sweetness lies contained in the two syllables ‘Rāma’. We must not let go, even for a moment, of Rāma's name, so sweet, so full of nectar, so full of Ānanda. But today's students neglect the divine name of Rāma. That can only be called their misfortune.

Mīrā, who merged in Kṛṣṇa Paramātma through single-minded Bhakti

The Mahārāṇā told Mīrā, the great devotee, to leave Kṛṣṇa's temple and go away. “How can I leave Kṛṣṇa and go!” she grieved deeply. “Kṛṣṇa Himself will come with me,” she consoled herself, and set out for Dvārakā. “Lord! Bearing many hardships, I have earned the great pearl of Your name. Keep that pearl from slipping and falling out of my hand,” she prayed to Kṛṣṇa. By the time Mīrā reached Dvārakā, the doors of Kṛṣṇa's temple there had been shut. “Kṛṣṇa! Back there the Mahārāṇā shut the doors of Your temple. Here too, have I not the good fortune of seeing You?” crying out in anguish, she began to beat her head against the temple doors. At once the doors opened. Kṛṣṇa Paramātma appeared before her and merged Mīrā into Himself. In this way, how deep, how strong, how profound each one's Bhakti and each one's feeling is, cannot be told.
