In plain words

Nārāyaṇa took the guise of a great paṇḍit, with bangles on his wrists, rudrākṣa beads at his neck and stripes of vibhūti on his forehead, and entered the world like a man of great learning. In village after village he began new and wonderful discourses. His radiance made the people wild with joy; drinking in his learning as a delight to the ear, thousands upon thousands of people kept gathering. The brāhmaṇas invited him to their agrahāras, honoured him in many ways and kept holding feasts for him. While this was going on, ‘Lakṣmī’ took the guise of a great yoginī and she too went about the villages giving many kinds of teaching about the Ātma. Hearing her wonderful discourses, women gathered in crowds upon crowds. Every woman kept begging her in many ways to come to her house for a meal.
