In plain words
Ahaṅkāra is the mark of the rājasic guṇa. Only when that rājasic guṇa subsides does the sāttvic guṇa arise. Only by the sāttvic can Śiva be won. Pārvatī was beauty itself. Only when she crushed by tapas the ego of beauty did the sāttvic guṇa rise up. Then the spiritual beauty within her came forth. That is ‘Īśvara burning to ash Manmatha, who is the Ahaṅkāra of youth’. That is, as long as there is Ahaṅkāra, ‘Vidyā’ will not come to us; once Vidyā is gained, there is no Ahaṅkāra.
