In plain words
The root cause of birth and death is desire. For those without desire there is no birth or death. Without a seed there is no plant, there will be no tree. The nature of the next birth is decided by the desires left unfulfilled in this birth. For those with no desire for objects, ‘Ātmajñāna’ becomes possible. The desire to gain knowledge of God and Prema for God is not a desire. It is the holy resolve of ‘Parāvidyā’, the supreme Vidyā. This is Brahmavidyā. In the flame of the knowledge of God all worldly desires are burnt to ash. As soon as desires come to an end, the jīvātma moves towards Paramātma. The jīvātma experiences supreme Śānti in the Ātma. Only if it cuts its bonds with what is not the Ātma does the jīvātma attain immortality.
