In plain words

If the teacher does not act in truth, society is spoiled

More than all other employees, the teacher above all must act in truth. Otherwise society is spoiled. Thousands of children without experience of the world are in his hands. The influence of his teaching weighs heavily on their tender minds. So a teacher must not have bad habits; for there is the danger that children take up habits by watching their elders. The students shaped by each teacher number some thousands. If all of them pick up those bad habits, society is spoiled. In time the bad habits in society trouble the teacher himself in another way. “It is the very learning you taught, O lotus-eyed one.” One day the teacher is mocked by his own students.
