In plain words
Man is Nārāyaṇa. All actions must be regarded as ‘service of Nārāyaṇa’. The student of today does not know what ‘Nārāyaṇa’ means at all, or what ‘Nara’ means. One who cannot recognise ‘the principle of Nara and Nārāyaṇa’ is not educated at all. These two are the very meanings of the terms “tat” and “tvam” in the Upaniṣadic saying. One who does not recognise these two is one who has not known himself. What use is a learning that does not know itself, whatever else it knows? Unhappily, the educated today, even if they do no good, do all the harm they please. This is stranger still.
