In plain words

Do not grow haughty, saying, 'I am a man of learning'; do not declare, 'I am a man of fortune'; do not often strut about, saying, 'I am rich'; do not praise yourself, saying, 'I am blessed with sons'; do not go about vaunting yourself, saying, 'I am a giver'; do not praise yourself, saying, 'I am a servant'; do not delight in yourself, saying, 'I am valiant'; do not melt in self-regard, saying, 'I am mighty in deeds'. If you so carry yourself that all may commend you, the Lord whose eyes are like lotus petals will draw you to Him; the Lord whose eyes are like lotus petals will bless you.
