In plain words

O Rāma, O ho Rāma, be my support, Kodaṇḍa Rāma; I shall stay in Your shelter, Kodaṇḍa Rāma. This ocean of saṃsāra comes on looking kindly; this ocean of delusion drowns me, Lord; weighed well, what is beyond You, Lord? Have mercy and bring me to the shore, becoming my boat. O Rāma. 'I am the one who loves you', says the deceiver; this Śūrpaṇakhā, the craving that bewitches, has entangled me and disgraced me, Lord; cut off its nose and ears, O lovely-limbed One. O Rāma. The very home where sins are born, O holy-limbed One, is this Rāvaṇa called anger, O tender-limbed One; in his full might, the ten-headed king of sin: wipe out its form and quench our torment, Lord. O Rāma. You ruled all the monkeys, and through them brought to fulfilment the task that could not be done, and protected them; we are no lesser than they, Sāi Rāma; so will You not set us right too and protect us? O Rāma. It has thrown away my honour and dignity, Lord, this belly, this Kabandha, Lord; at the very last it has made me its slave, Lord; put an end to its endless wiles, O dear Rāma. O Rāma.
