In plain words
While Kiṭṭayya, in radiant Gokula, played and made merry, that King Kaṃsa, turned murderer, set out to kill Him. (Kalyāṇa…) At so tender an age He appeared enchanting to all; may the evil eye that fell on Him never strike golden Kiṭṭayya! (Kalyāṇa…) Seeing Kiṭṭayya trample Kāḷiya down and dance holding its tail in His hand, the evil eye of my own gaze I ward off, and its harm. (Kalyāṇa…) When the sacrifice to Indra was given up and Varuṇa, grown furious, rained down stones, the evil eye on the Cowherd who lifted the mountain I take away. (Kalyāṇa…) The evil eye of mothers and sisters, the evil eye of fathers and elders, the evil eye of young and old: 'Away! Away! Begone!' I cast it down. (Kalyāṇa…)
