What he heard along the way· Verses 13–16

Everywhere he went he heard the fame of his own great-souled forebears being sung, which pointed to the greatness of Krsna; and how he himself had been saved from the heat of Asvatthaman's weapon; and the affection between the Vrsnis and the sons of Prtha, and their devotion to Kesava. Greatly pleased with those who told it, his eyes opening wide with love, he gave them great riches and garments and necklaces, being large of mind. The charioteering, the attendance in the assembly, the friendship, the going as envoy, the sitting among heroes, the following after, the praising and the bowing down which he gave the loving sons of Pandu — and the salutation of the world: the king places his devotion in the lotus feet of Visnu.
