30So the man who keeps a family, or the man who fills only his own belly, leaves both of them behind here, and after death he eats a fruit of just this kind. 31He goes into the dark alone, leaving this body of his behind, and the food he carries for the road is all that is not good in him, since it was by harming living things that they were fed. 32What comes to him by the ordering of things is the filth of that family-keeping, and in hell the man eats it, wretched as one whose wealth has been taken away. 33By wrongdoing and nothing else, in his eagerness to keep his family, the living one goes to Blind Darkness, the last standing-place of the dark.
34Having gone in order through all the torments and the rest of it that lie below the world of men, he comes back here again, made clean.
