While the people were praising Prthu of the great valour in this way, four sages with the brightness of the sun came there. The king and those with him made those masters of attainment out as they came down from the sky, marked by a radiance that left the worlds clean of wrong. Vainya rose, and the men of the session and his followers rose with him, as the ruler of the senses rises and the senses rise after him, as though he meant to take back the breath that had gone up at the sight of them. Held fast by respect, courteous, his neck bent low, he honoured them in the proper way once they had taken the seats of highest honour.

With the water that had washed their feet he wetted the knot of his hair, following there the practice of men of good conduct, as though to give them their due. They sat on golden seats like fires on their own hearths; and full of trust and restraint, glad, he spoke to the elder brothers of Bhava.
